An Expert Eye on Hong Kong’s Creative Soul
Writing the first book on Hong Kong’s street art was a true labor of love. Today, I balance my work as an author and photographer with my favourite role: being your guide to the city’s streets. From the legacy of the 'King of Kowloon' to the newest murals in Central, I love acting as a bridge to the local art scene—whether it’s through the pages of my book or an easy-going walk through my favourite corners of the city. I’m here to share the stories behind the spray paint with you..

Colourful Hong Kong - Street Art Stories
A 308-page deep dive documenting street art as urban heritage, featuring a cover by well-respected artist Sinic reimagining Sham Shui Po in a nightly neon glow.
Quick Specs: 165 x 235mm (hardcover) | 200+ Images | ISBN 978-988-71278-8-8 | HK$ 450 / EUR 50.00.
An independent publication by Alexandra Unrein; available at Bookazine and select independent bookshops in Hong Kong, Berlin, and Macau.
The Story Behind the Cover
"The book’s striking cover features 'Sham Shui Po 2070', a 2020 work by well-respected artist Sinic. Now based in Taiwan, Sinic first made his mark by fusing traditional calligraphy with urban lettering to create a distinct 'Eastern' style of graffiti writing.
While this specific piece leans into a retro-futuristic vision, it represents his evolution into figurative murals. Here, he reimagines the iconic rounded-corner buildings and pawn shop signs of Sham Shui Po through his vivid childhood memories, using muted tones contrasted by popping pinks and greens. This creates a nightly neon glow that perfectly anchors the book in the city’s authentic, yet ever-evolving, street heritage.
